More info on avail. calibers and model yrs.|By Thomas R.|The book contains a great number of vintage photos - worth every penny. The construction is crude: slightly creased pages through-out the entire book, no illustration on the binding, and some damage from bundle strapping... Not good for $85.00. The paper used is a heavy gloss; that's a plus.

It traces the development of the firearm from the close of the Civil War to the beginning of its modern era, marked in 1894 by the initial army issues of a new high-velocity bolt-action rifle designed for smokeless-powder cartridges.
